Hemp Processing

See how Arbor Vita8’s state-of-the-art facilities are helping hemp farmers and manufacurers avoid the processing bottleneck. When you partner with us, we’ll ensure your harvest is prepared for extraction and sale with less hassle and lower costs.

What Is Hemp Processing?

Post-harvest processing is a critical – but often overlooked  – step that occurs between harvest and extraction. Generally, the same basic steps of milling and drying are required for any hemp harvest. Depending on the type of hemp you’re processing and its intended use, such as industrial, food, or medical products, the specific steps might look a little different.

Our facilities were built to maximize efficiency when processing hemp for CBD and CBG extraction. Because this industry is still relatively young, many new farmers and manufacturers lack the processes, equipment, and infrastructure needed to facilitate a smooth workflow and quality products. This inexperience has led to a shortage of qualified processors who will handle your harvest with fastidious care and attention to detail, so you can enjoy the largest possible yields and profits. That’s where we come in!

What Types of Hemp Processing Can We Do?

Before your harvest is ready for extraction, the hemp must be properly milled and dried. Fortunately for our partner farmers who rely on us to handle their harvests, our advanced, dual-head combines take care of milling in the field. We only process milled material, so please visit our cultivation and harvesting page if you need harvesting assistance.

As the other major step in hemp processing, drying is not where you want to cut corners. When hemp is dried properly and quickly, the quality and size of your yield is maximized. On the other hand, you may experience spoilage, fungal mold, or bacterial contamination in hemp that is harvested too wet or dried too slowly and without proper ventilation.

In fact, the drying process is where our facilities truly shine. With a capacity to dry up to 20,000 wet pounds each hour, we are one of the few processors who can handle industrial volumes. Operating at this scale allows us to pass on big savings and critical efficiencies to our valued partners.

Biomass Processing

Hemp biomass is plant matter that is left over once the hemp flower is removed, like stalks and leaves. Due to high levels of unmet demand for CBD and newer extraction technologies, what was once considered a “waste product” in conventional farming has now skyrocketed in value. See how our experts are helping partner farmers take advantage of their biomass to increase profits!

How Does It Work?

We can approach toll processing in several ways. Typically, toll fees range from $0.75 to $2.50 a pound for drying and $25.00 to $35.00 a pound for extraction. This number will depend on the size and quality of your crop, your business goals, and external factors like market volatility. If you have already arranged a seller for your oil, then we return it to you as soon as payment is received.

We also offer our toll split partners an option to divide the post-extraction oil between both parties. How we divvy it up will depend on the quality of your samples and the volume you need processed.

From seed to sale, we take pride in providing the most efficient and cost-effective support for our partner farmers and manufacturers. In today’s booming (but underdeveloped) market, it is very difficult to find vendors who can even dry and process large quantities of hemp – let alone do it with dedication and care. Our focus is widening this bottleneck to make life easier for farmers and manufacturers.

We want hemp farmers and manufacturers to be successful, not only because our success is intrinsically tied to yours, but also because we believe this crop is a valuable resource for healing. Getting this resource from your farm and into the hands of those who need it doesn’t have to be a stressful, inefficient, or unprofitable venture. We can say this confidently because we’ve put in the work, gone through the trial-and-error, and have the agricultural experience necessary to be successful.
