The hemp plant has many uses, but the benefits of hemp soap may surprise you. Hemp has many potential benefits, and being good for your skin appears to be one. For some, soap made from hemp oil has helped to moisturize and clean the skin.
Hemp soap is for everyone
That’s right! It doesn’t matter if you have oily, dry, or combination skin, hemp soap can is okay for you to use. This is in part because the fatty acids in hemp oil mimic those of our skin. Basically, it’s able to keep your skin moist while not overindulging oily complexions.
The best hemp soaps are also all natural, so those with chemical allergies don’t need to worry. In fact, it’s so gentle on the skin, some use it on infants. Its usability is due mainly to healthy doses of Omega 3 and Omega 6. These are known to be great for your skin.
Dealing with oils and the signs of aging
One of the fantastic qualities of hemp soap is how it is able to moderate the moisture and oil production of your skin. It’s able to moisturize your skin so it doesn’t over produce oil, yet won’t clog pores while doing it.
Its natural antioxidants are also put to work. They may reduce signs of wrinkles and other blemishes, helping repair the complexion over time.
Doing more than moisturizing and cleansing
The natural fatty acids in hemp soap, like Omega 3 and Omega 6, make it the perfect choice for any skin type because they help protect and rejuvenate your complexion. For instance, these fatty acids protect against the sun’s UV rays, one of the major contributors to wrinkles and a splotchy complexion over time. On their own, Omega 3 helps reduce inflammation and Omega 6 releases white blood cells to protect against viruses and other invaders.
While our bodies can produce many fatty acids naturally, the ones found in hemp soap are not on that list. We have to introduce them via outside sources, and hemp soap makes it easy.
Helping to fight skin disorders
Not only can hemp soap help protect your skin but it can go on the offensive against many skin disorders as well. Studies continue to link the properties of hemp with the skin, and while more research needs to happen, early results do look promising.
This 2014 study found CBD to act as a strong anti-acne treatment, with the study quoting the compound’s potential anti-inflammatory effects as notable in suppressing the disorder. Also of note, a 2019 study found CBD ointment helped in “significantly improving” the quality of life and reducing the skin parameters of patients suffering from psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and post-surgical scars.
While these studies used a topical CBD ointment, most hemp soaps have similar hemp-based compounds. Many hemp soaps are even specifically infused with CBD extracts.
